The Frisco West Springfield shops rebuilt SLSF 2-10-2 #53 into this spectacular and powerful 4-8-2 Mountain type steam loco renumbered SLSF 4403 in 1939. The rebuilt loco lasted in passenger and freight service until it was sold for scrap in october of 1952 after diesels took over the Frisco. Specs - serial #49085, nee-SLSF 2-10-2 #53, 70" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 29x32" cylinders, engine weight of 449,760 lb, tractive effort of 68,600 lb.
